This Week in the Championship- Week 2

Hello and welcome to another edition of This Week in the Championship. The last round saw some surprise losses for the early favourites, with Reading losing 2-0 to QPR, Middlesbrough losing 1-0 to Wolves, and Aston Villa and Hull sharing the spoils.

However it is worth noting that in this league, nothing is guaranteed, and there is an awful long way to go.

Lets now look to what fixtures await us this week:

Saturday 12th August:

Barnsley v Ipswich (3:00pm Kick off)

Birmingham v Bristol City (3:00pm Kick off)

Brentford v Nottingham Forest (3:00pm Kick off)

Cardiff City v Aston Villa (3:00pm Kick off)

Derby v Wolves (3:00pm Kick off)

Hull v Burton Albion (3:00pm Kick off)

Leeds v Preston (3:00pm Kick off)

Millwall v Bolton (3:00pm Kick off)

Reading v Fulham (3:00pm Kick off)

Sheffield Wednesday v QPR (3:00pm Kick off)

Middlesbrough v Sheffield United (5:30pm Kick off)

Sunday 13th August:

Norwich V Sunderland (1:30pm Kick off)

As you can see there are a few potential promotion candidate battles, with Reading hosting late bloomers Fulham, and Norwich facing Sunderland.

Reading will be hoping to bounce back from their 2-0 loss with a home win against a Fulham side who too are on the look out for three points. The same can be said for Norwich and Sunderland, with both sides drawing in their opening games. They will hope to make their mark on the league with an early win, though you feel Norwich will be the favourites going into this game.

There you have it, another edition of This Week in the Championship. Thanks for reading, and have a good weekend!
