This Week in the Championship- Week 8

Hello and welcome to another edition of This Week in the Championship, and with a very full schedule on Saturday, let’s quickly look back to what happened last time.

Cardiff’s winning run finally came to an end, losing 3-0 away to Preston: Neil Warnock seems to have been the latest victim of the Manager of the Month award. Brentford and Bolton are still without a win in this season’s Championship, with the Bees losing 2-1 away to Sheffield Wednesday, whereas Bolton lost away to Sheffield United. Both sides will be hoping to turn their fortunes around soon. Elsewhere in the Championship there was a high scoring draw as Wolves and Bristol City faced off in a 3-3 draw.

Let’s now look ahead to what awaits us this Saturday:

Saturday 16th September:

Birmingham v Preston (3:00pm Kick off).

Brentford v Reading (3:00pm Kick off).

Bristol City v Derby (3:00pm Kick off).

Burton v Fulham (3:00pm Kick off).

Cardiff v Sheffield Wednesday (3:00pm Kick off).

Hull City v Sunderland (3:00pm Kick off).

Ipswich v Bolton (3:00pm Kick off).

Middlesbrough v QPR (3:00pm Kick off).

Millwall v Leeds (3:00pm Kick off).

Nottingham Forest v Wolves (3:00pm Kick off).

Sheffield United v Norwich (3:00pm Kick off).

Barnsley v Aston Villa (5:30pm Kick off).

Brentford’s next chance for a first win of the season couldn’t come in a harder game, a local derby with Reading. The Royals so far have faced inconsistent form, and lack an all out goal-scorer. All of that means this match should be an incredible match.

There is an ex-Premier League match off, as Hull host Sunderland in a must win for both teams. Many felt before the season that these two would be fighting for the title this year, but it hasn’t clicked just yet. Simon Grayson is a Championship proven manager, and really should have done better. This could be the game where it all kicks off.

And there you have it, yet another edition. Thanks for reading, and have a good weekend.
