Game on! Week 37 of Championship action

Hello and welcome to Game on! I hope you are all well and enjoyed your week. There are still 11 or 12 games left for most teams, and there is still all to play for. The midweek action did mot disappoint, with most of the promotion chasing teams winning. The weekend brings us a Midlands derby and a few other excellent matches.

Their poor slip finally caught up with them, as Bristol City finally dropped out of the play-off spots. The West Country side lost 2-1 to Preston North End and are now sit a point spots. Gary Monk’s start as Birmingham boss didn’t start well, as the Blues lost 1-0 to Middlesbrough. The result means the Midlands side are two points off safety.

So let’s now take a look at this weekends fixtures:

Saturday, March 10:

Burton Albion v Bristol City (Kick off 3pm)

Cardiff City v Birmingham City (Kick off 3pm).

Hull City v Norwich City (Kick off 3pm).

Ipswich Town v Sheffield United (Kick off 3pm).

Middlesbrough v Barnsley (Kick off 3pm).

Millwall v Brentford (Kick off 3pm).

Preston North End v Fulham (Kick off 3pm).

Queens Park Rangers v Sunderland (Kick off 3pm).

Reading v Leeds United (Kick off 3pm).

Sheffield Wednesday v Bolton Wanderers (Kick off 3pm).

Aston Villa v Wolverhampton Wanderers (Kick off 5.30pm).

Sunday, March 11:

Nottingham Forest v Derby County (Kick off 2.30pm).

Tuesday, March 13:

Aston Villa v Queens Park Rangers (Kick off 7:45pm).

Barnsley v Norwich City (Kick off 7:45pm).

Brentford v Cardiff City (Kick off 7:45pm).

Ipswich Town v Hull City (Kick off 7:45pm).

Sheffield United v Burton Albion (Kick off 7:45pm).

Wolverhampton Wanderers v Reading (Kick off 7:45pm).

Some excellent matches to look out for, with Aston Villa v Wolves the biggest. The Midlands rivals are looking to get Premier League promotion for the first time in years. Wolves are only 10 points clear of their rivals, and a Villa win would pull them closer not only to the leaders but within one point of Cardiff should they not win. Cardiff themselves are only two wins off Wolves, so should the leaders lose, the table will look very interesting.

And there you have it, thanks for reading and have a good weekend.
